Terms of Service
The agreement between you and PLC Gym, in plain English: plans, payments, fair use and staying safe.
Effective from 31 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and PLC Gym when you use plcgym.com. By using the site, you agree to them. If anything is unclear, just ask.
The short version
- You can learn on PLC Gym for free. Pro unlocks the full course.
- You can try Pro free for 7 days, with no card. You can cancel paid Pro at any time.
- Your account is for you alone. Please don’t share it or copy our course.
- The simulator is for learning. Never put code from it on a real machine without proper engineering checks.
- The code you write is yours.
Who we are
PLC Gym is based in Scotland. When these terms say “we” or “us”, they mean PLC Gym. “You” means anyone who uses the site.
- Name
- PLC Gym
Your account
You can use much of PLC Gym without an account. Your progress then stays in your browser.
An account keeps your progress, XP and username safe, and lets you use them on any computer. Clerk runs our sign-in, using an emailed code or a password.
- Use a real email address that you can get messages at.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. One account is for one person.
- You’re responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has got in, tell us straight away.
Plans and prices
Our pricing page shows what each plan includes. The plans are:
- Free: the first course module and its missions, with no time limit.
- Pro: £15 a month or £144 a year. Outside the UK you may see a local price in US dollars, euros, Canadian dollars or Australian dollars instead, and you pay in that currency. Our pricing page shows the current prices.
- Free trial: each account can try Pro free for 7 days, once. No card is needed. When the trial ends, you go back to Free and keep all your progress. You only pay if you choose to.
- Team (for companies): £35 per learner a month, billed yearly, from 3 learners.
- Hiring (for companies): £249 a month, for up to 20 candidates a month.
Team and Hiring prices exclude VAT. We set up company plans with you directly, so get in touch to start.
Paying, renewing and cancelling Pro
- Stripe, a payment company, handles all payments. We never see your full card number.
- Pro renews automatically at the end of each month or year, until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from Billing in your account menu. Pro stays open until the end of the month or year you’ve paid for. After that you move to Free and keep your progress.
- We don’t give refunds for part of a month or year, except where the law says we must.
- If we change the price of Pro, we’ll tell you before it applies. The new price starts at your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
Your 14-day right to cancel (UK consumers)
If you’re in the UK and buy Pro for yourself, the law usually gives you 14 days to change your mind. For digital content like Pro, that right ends once you start using it.
Pro starts as soon as you pay. So when you subscribe, you’re asking for it to start straight away. You accept that you lose the 14-day right once you use it. That’s why we offer the free 7-day trial: you can try everything before you pay a penny.
If you cancel within 14 days and haven’t used Pro since paying, email and we’ll refund you in full. If something has gone wrong, tell us anyway. We’ll be fair.
Fair use
PLC Gym is built for learning. To keep it fair for everyone, please don’t:
- share your account, or let other people use your sign-in;
- copy, scrape, download in bulk or republish our lessons, missions, questions or 3D rigs, by hand or with automated tools;
- sell or give away access to PLC Gym;
- try to break, overload or get around the site’s security or plan limits;
- use PLC Gym to break the law or to harm anyone.
If someone breaks these rules, we may suspend or close their account. We’ll usually warn you first, unless the problem is serious.
Who owns what
The course, lessons, missions, questions, 3D rigs, text and design belong to PLC Gym. You may use them for your own learning, or for your team’s learning on a Team plan.
The code you write on PLC Gym is yours.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we’re free to use them to improve PLC Gym.
Siemens, TIA Portal, Rockwell Automation, Allen-Bradley and Studio 5000 are trademarks of their owners. We use the names only to say which tools the course covers. PLC Gym isn’t connected to or endorsed by these companies.
The simulator is for learning, not for real machines
PLC Gym’s simulator, 3D rigs, tests and example code are for learning and practice. They are not a safety-rated tool, and they don’t copy every detail of a real PLC or machine. The language reference explains where the simulator differs from TIA Portal and Studio 5000.
Passing a mission shows you’ve understood an idea. It doesn’t mean the code is safe, complete or ready for a real plant.
Never load code, settings or results from PLC Gym onto real equipment without proper engineering checks. That means a design review, testing, and sign-off by a competent person, following your site’s safety rules and the law.
Hiring tests
Companies on the Hiring plan can invite candidates to take a test on PLC Gym. If you do, you’re responsible for how you use the results.
- Tell candidates how the test works and how you’ll use their results.
- Use the results to help a person decide. They shouldn’t be the only reason for a hiring decision.
- Keep results safe, and only for as long as you need them.
Before each test, candidates see a notice called “What is recorded”. It explains exactly what the test records. Our Privacy Policy covers the rest.
If something goes wrong
We work hard to keep PLC Gym working and accurate. But we can’t promise it will always be available, or free of mistakes.
If you’re a consumer: we’re responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not taking reasonable care. We’re not responsible for loss nobody could have foreseen. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
If you use PLC Gym for a business: we’re not responsible for lost profits, business, contracts or data, or for indirect loss. Our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
As far as the law allows, we’re not responsible for loss or damage caused by using code, settings or results from PLC Gym on real equipment.
We never limit our responsibility where the law doesn’t allow it. That includes death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and fraud.
Changes
We keep improving PLC Gym, so features and content will change. If a change takes away something important you’ve paid for, you can cancel and we’ll refund the unused part of your paid period.
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change matters, we’ll tell you by email or on the site before it applies. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
Ending your account
You can stop using PLC Gym at any time. To delete your account and everything saved with it, see “Deleting your account” in our Privacy Policy.
The law that applies
PLC Gym is based in Scotland, so these terms are governed by Scots law, and disputes go to the Scottish courts. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live, and you keep the protection of your local law.
